Ladies Hold it Down in Japan.
On June 23rd, Marisuke won her title, and her place in the final 30 for the $20,000 live final on Tinian Island to be played on June 23, when she took first in the live qualifier at Bar Jack in Tokyo.
Japanese men found another surprise for in store for them when Akemin took down the next qualifier for the Live Final on Tinian June 30th.
"Statistically, this is quite remarkable," Stated May in a press release "We were aware that the popularity of poker among Japanese women was growing, but having two of the winners so far be female is a testament to their skill."
Marisuke has been playing the game of poker for nine years, and is a self proclaimed video game enthusiast. Akimen, three years into her poker career works for an advertising firm in Japan.
Each of these women, and all other poker players that participate in and win one of the free online and live qualifying events will receive a $1,400 prize package that includes both travel and the buy in for the final live event, where one winner will take home a package worth 20 grand.
