Minnesota Celebrity Poker Tourney Begins Tomorrow
Trent Tucker is a former University of Minnesota and NBA basketball star that founded the Trent Tucker Non-profit Organization. The organization holds a celebrity poker tournament every year to raise funds for their charity. This is the tenth year the organization has held the fundraiser.
The event will begin at 7 pm on Thursday and the cost to play in the tournament is $1,250. People who would like to come and watch can pay a $50 fee that will go to the organization. Several former NBA stars are expected to attend. Michael Jordan won the event last year and is expected to return to defend his title.
Trent Tucker stated that it is “gratifying to see” so many celebrities and friends like Michael Jordan, return to the event every year and support the organization. Tucker says: “They come back because they really want to make a differnce in the lives of young people, and this is one way they can put their commitment into action.”
The weekend of the event will include a Bentley Maserati Minneapolis Reception and a post reception celebrity party. The next day a Celebrity Golf Tournament will take place. It is believed that Scottie Pippen and Patrick Ewing will be in attendance at these events.
All funds earned from these events will go toward the Trent Tucker Youth Program. The Program provides Twin Cities at risk middle school children with leadership training, career development and educational opportunities. The Program also hopes to start a charter school that will carry on the goals and hopes of the foundation to the youth.
Since their inception, the Program has raised more than $1 million for local charities and also funding for the Trent Tucker Youth Program.
