Mixed Martial Arts Legend to Host Charity Poker Tournament
On January 12th at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Randy "The Natural" Couture will be hosting a charity poker event. The event is titled "Operation All In" and will benefit the Xtreme Couture GI Foundation. Couture formed the organization with his wife to raise awareness and money for armed forces. The benefits go to soldiers who were wounded in battle and also to their families. The event will begin at 1 pm and continue until 6pm.
Couture is a veteran himself after serving in the United States Army's 101st Airborne Division. When he visited amputees in a San Antonio, Texas Medical Center he got the idea for the foundation. The foundation helps people through several programs. They have an Urgent Financial Needs program that is for families who are in a financial crisis and are referred to the foundation by the Military Severely Injured Center.
The poker event will have a $550 buy-in and there will also be $200 re-buys. Poker pros, celebrities and possible other Mixed Martial Arts stars will be in attendance. Dean Cain, who rose to fame in the TV show Lois and Clark, will most likely be at the event. 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event winner, Jamie Gold, has also confirmed his attendance. Also during the event there will be a silent auction and a live DJ. The tournament is open to the public to come and watch the event as well.
