NPL Location or London Circuit Stop
"We are extremely pleased that the Loose Cannon Club has partnered with the National Poker League to host our first international televised poker tournament in Europe" said Sam Riddle, President of National Poker League's Television division. "We will be filming throughout the qualifying rounds and producing six one-hour episodes of the UK OPEN."
After the inaugural event in London the circuit the league will cover visit Paris, Monte Carlo, Manila and Toronto before awarding the world championship in Las Vegas this December. The London tournament will feature side games and several tiers of buy-ins before the 2,500-pound No-Limit Texas Holdem Main Event with a final table on August 18th.
This exposure and the projected award pool of 500,000 pound are anticipated to attract many pro poker players. With space for 450 players, a lavish members lounge and restaurant the Loose Cannon is an exceptional location for cameras and players alike. It will be possible to see the most renowned players make an appearance here before the WSOPE in September.
Roy Houghton, the club's director, mentioned that an early registration would be the best course of action, due to the expectation of space restrictions accompanying the sell out tournament. Necessary to adhere to and in accordance with UK law, everyone must apply for Loose Cannon ‘guest membership' no less than 48 hours prior to the start of the tournament.
There will also be side cash games and a silent auction of National Poker League memorabilia will be held on the 16th of August to raise funds to help the Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital.
