Nicky Hilton Attends Charity Poker Tournament
They were not the only celebrities in attendance. Several playboy bunnies showed up to entice the crowd. This has recently sparked controversy for the event. Many have stated that they think the appearance of the playboy bunnies is tainting the TASER Foundations image. Suzie Sawyer the executive director of the Missouri-based Concerns of Police Survivors had this to say on the subject: "While the Taser Foundation is doing a very nice thing to financially support the surviving families of fallen officers, it would be our hope that they would conduct their fundraising in a manner that could not sully their mission, when you mingle the vices with the virtue, raising money through Playboy Bunnies and the Vegas style, it isn't something we would do or encourage".
The TASER Foundation has hosted similar events over the past three years and have experienced no complaints. They are raising money for families of police officers who were killed in the line of duty. Steve Tuttle, TASER spokesman, had this to say on the criticism: "What is most important to remember is that every dollar raised through this tournament will go directly to families of fallen law enforcement officers, over the past three years, the Taser Foundation is proud to have supported close to 500 families of fallen officers distributing a total of more than $1.7 million to these families in their time of need".
