Oleg Suntsov Wins First PokerStars Russian Poker Tour Event
The first event to take place on PokerStars Russian Poker Tour was a $5,000 No Limit Hold’em tournament that saw two hundred and one players competing. The tournament took place in St. Petersburg, Russia with final table action beginning on February 1st.
Seven Russian players made the final nine at the final table and it was Oleg Suntsov of Russia who would walk away the first ever winner on the PokerStars Russian Poker Tour. Suntsov won $294,955 for his efforts. And it was not easy as Suntsov had the shortest chip stack at the final table, but he was able to double up a few times and take the win.
When heads up play began it was between Suntsov and Vadim Markushevsky. Both went all in and the board was 9-6-3-5 with only the river left to flip. Markushevsky held K-9 and Suntsov had pocket queens. When the two fell on the river it was all she wrote and Suntsov took the win.
