Online Poker Championship ECOOP Comes To An End

The European Championship of Online Poker (ECOOP) came to an end Monday, December 10th after receiving an astounding number of entries that raised to total prize pool to a staggering $2,823,900. The main event saw a prize pool of $1,000,000 while the ECOOP leaderboards sent 59 participants to the special $50,000 freeroll tables.

Spanning 11 days, the ECOOP kicked off with a bang on November 30th with a $150,000 NL Hold'em Freezeout. The event brought in $209,800 in buy-ins - much higher than the original guaranteed prize pool.

As the series of events continued, players participated in PL Omaha, PL Omaha Hi/Lo, Limit Hold'em and NL Hold'em with 6 and 10 player tables.

The excitement culminated as the main event finally got underway, lasted more than 12 hours. Online poker player "wllkllu" of the UK took home the first place prize of $220,000. Leaderboard qualifiers - 59 in all - then took their seats at the $50,000 MVP Freeroll event. Swedish player "Guggovic" took home the top prize of $13,500, along with an ECOOP MVP 2007 bracelet.

Winners of each main event in the ECOOP also received bracelets, engraved to depict the events they had won.
