Poker Million VI Winner Joe Beevers
Last Friday, the Poker Million VI was coming to a close and final table play would begin to determine who would go home one million dollars richer. Joe Beevers would make it to the final table and win the top prize. He was up against very stiff competition with Ian Cox, Liam Flood, Julian Gardner, Howard Lederer and Marty Smyth all at the final table.
Beevers worked hard for the win and during the final table, he would sometimes be up in chips and sometimes be short stacked. He entered heads-up play with Marty Smyth and it lasted for quite a while not finishing until early morning. Smyth was a finalist last year and was hoping to win it all this year but didn't quite make it. Beevers won the title with pocket nines against Smyths King high when the blinds were large. Smyth would take home $500,000 for his second place finish.
This win is a great end to a successful year for Beevers. He began at the WSOPE at a final table in the H.O.R.S.E. event and won the Great British Poker Tour main event. The Poker Million VI tournament was his biggest win to date. We are sure to see more of him in the upcoming year.
