PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Winner: ElkY
The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure brought in 2008 with a bang. The event hit a record high 1136 players boarding the ship to try their luck at the multi-million dollar tournament. Several online players qualified for the European Poker Tour event by entering in satellites on various online poker websites. 650 players won their spots on the ship while playing online. An extra special bonus for online players is that the event is available for players under 21 so the younger players could win a spot and board the ship.
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier was the winner of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. He is a member of Team PokerStars and proved he was the best when he outlasted the other 1135 players at the tables. He experienced some tough competition with David "The Dragon" Pham, who had a large chip stack coming in, but ElkY managed to hang on. He went head to head with Hafiz Khan briefly. Khan pushed all in and ElkY called with pocket 8s. Khan had only 9-3 and got no help from the board so ElkY would become the champion.
Of his win, ElkY said: "The entire trip has been one thrilling experience after another - and now I'm returning home as the 2008 PCA Champion. This was definitely one of the hardest tournaments I've ever played. It was a very tough field with a lot of Online American Poker qualifiers who played really well. But I really wanted this title and I would have been very disappointed not to win. "
