PokerStars continues to expand itself as a global brand by launching more local and regional poker events. Their latest event, the Balkan Poker Festival, will place a large poker tournament at the Golden Sands resort, located near Varna, Bulgaria.
The Balkan Poker Festival will take place from September 2-5, 2010. The main event of the festival will be a €990 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em tournament, which PokerStars hopes will attract about 200 players, mainly from Europe. Along with the substantial cash prize that the winner will inevitably receive, they will also be awarded a buy-in to the European Poker Tour event in Prague, worth €5,300.
The Golden Sands Resort sits directly on the shore of the Black Sea, and features the biggest poker room in Bulgaria. It is located about 17 kilometers (10.5 miles) north of Varna. Satellites for the Balkan Poker Festival are already running on PokerStars.
PokerStars runs a large number of festivals and poker tours around the world, from large continental tours to smaller, regional contests. The largest of these events include the European Poker Tour, the North American Poker Tour, the Latin American Poker Tour and the Asia-Pacific Poker Tour. Regional tours include the Italian Poker Tour, the Australia-New Zealand Poker Tour, and the UK and Ireland Poker Tour.
