PokerStars Releases Preliminary Schedule for 2009 WCOOP

A tentative schedule has been released by PokerStars for the upcoming 2009 World Championships of Online Poker. The WCOOP is set to begin in September and is said to offer over $40 million in prize guarantees during the forty two event series.

The WCOOP will begin on September 3rd with the first event, the $215 no limit hold’em which will have a guaranteed prize pool of $1.25 million. The second event will be a $215 razz game with a prize pool of $200,000. These tournaments will be followed by a pot-limit Omaha event with a $500,000 guarantee as well as a no limit single draw two-to-seven competition.

Events will continue from the 3rd until the 20th with each day offering several events for players to choose from. On the final day the two day main event will begin with a $5,200 buy-in no limit hold’em tournament and it will offer $10 million in total prizes.
