PokerStars Website to Continue LAPT Nuevo Vallarta Event
It was announced today by PokerStars that they would be holding a special tournament for the 89 players who were left hanging after the LAPT Nuevo Vallarta Event was shut down. As reported yesterday, the event was cancelled after Mexican gaming officials shut down the Main Event on Saturday December 6th.
The special tournament will be a freeroll and will be strictly for those eighty nine players who still had chips left to play. Each player will begin the freeroll with the same amount of chips they had left at the live tournament when play was shut down.
The freeroll will take place on the PokerStars website and will continue until the final nine players are left. Those final nine will be flown to the LAPT event in Vina del Mar, Chile where they will be able to finish what they started. The final table will be recorded and played on television at a later date.
Sarne Lightman, the director of marketing for the LAPT commented that officials knew that many players wanted to be able to finish the tournament they had started and win a LAPT title. Lightman went on to comment that even though money was distributed among the players, PokerStars would still be offering players the opportunity to earn the title and prize money.
