Schedule Released for 2008 L.A. Poker Classic

The LAPC is set to kick off on Thursday January 24th 2008 consisting of 30 rigorous events for poker players to prove their skills in each individual poker game and finishing up with the World Poker Tour Celebrity Invitational^TM final table on March 3rd.


There's another goal in play here however at the LAPC as the players pit their skills against each other to win the Best All-Around Poker Player. The top 16 winners in 22 out of 30 of the events tournaments earn points, the points are then accumulated throughout the event. The 5 players having accumulated the most points at the end of the evening then divide a sperate $50k prize pool set aside for the Best all Around Poker Player.


Another unique event at the LA Poker Classic is set to happen on Valentines day in 2008, the No Limit Tag Team Event, whereas sweethearts, or partners will team up against other couples rotating players as the blind levels raise. The sweetheart tournament winners from 2007 split a prize of $25,610.


The grand finale of the LA Poker classic is the World Poker Tour Invitational, poker stars, and celebrities are drawn together to fight it out over the felt. In the past we've seen Jennifer Tilly, Lou Diamond Phillips, Cheryl Hines, Shannon Elizabeth and Maura Tierney compete in this event which pays out a seat in the WPT Championship tournament held annually at the Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas.


The 2007 LA Poker Classic tournament attracted 13,400 poker players.
