Steve Billirakis Makes History Again
In 2007, Steve Billirakis made history as he became the youngest bracelet winner in the World Series of Poker. Billirakis broke the record held by Jeff Madsen for being the youngest to win a bracelet. It would not be long though before Annette Obrestad would beat his record. Now Billirakis has set another record becoming the youngest person to win a World Series of Poker Circuit event.
Billirakis made it to the final table at the World Series of Poker Circuit Event at Horseshoe Casino Hammond this past Sunday. Billirakis was in the chip lead and ready to get down to business. Billirakis was up against several professional poker players at the final table but none were able to stop his ascent to the top.
Dustin Woolf tried but was knocked out in ninth place. Jason DeWitt also tried and was knocked out in eighth. In the end it was down to Billirakis and Thomas Koral. Billirakis had a 5 to 3 chip lead over Koral, so heads up play lasted about twenty minutes. Koral was in with pocket nines against Billirakis’s A-8. Billirakis managed a flush and busted out Koral and took the win. Billirakis won a seat to the 2009 WSOP Main Event along with his prize money.
