The National Poker League Vegas Open Championship Results
This past Monday competitors began playing for the National Poker League Vegas Open Championship. The event had many professionals show up and post the $15,000 buy-in to play. Fifty-seven players participated and after the first day a little over half remained. After the second day the playing field was narrowed down to the final six. These players would be filmed at the televised final table.
The six players to make it to the final table were: David Singer, Nikolay Evdakov, Mikael Thuritz, Toto Leonidas, Antonio Salorio and Allen Cunningham. The chip leader at the beginning of day 3 was Cunningham. He would maintain his lead for quite a while. The first player eliminated would be Thuritz in 6th. 5th place went to Evdakov after Singer took him down with a full house. Singer would then move on to be the chip leader and would have more than $1 million by the end of the evening.
The last player to be eliminated that day was Leonidas. Play would stop until the next day. On Thursday, Singer, Salorio and Cunningham would return to finish the tournament. Salorio would be the first to be eliminated bringing Salorio and Singer to heads up play. Cunningham had been down in chips the whole day but would slowly win his way back and take the victory.
