Tony G, JC Tran in Lead after First Day of Premier League III
Monday was the opening day of heats for the PartyPoker Premier League III and JC Tran and Tony G are currently in the point lead. The twelve players were divided into two groups of six and competed for points.
The first group to compete had JC Tran, Peter Eastgate, David Ulliott, Annette Obrestand, Roland de Wolfe and Andy Black, the defending champion, competing against each other for points. Out first was Ulliott followed by de Wolfe. Black and Obrestad were next which left Eastgate and Tran to battle for top points. Eastgate held a 2-1 advantage but Tran battled back and earned the top points for heat 1.
Heat 2 play would then begin between Tom Dwan, Phil Hellmuth, Tony G, Vicky Coren, Juha Helppi and Nenad Medic. Nenad would be the first to go followed closely by Helppi. Hellmuth would be out next leaving Coren, Dwan and Tony G. Coren would bow out next and Dwan and Tony G began heads up play. Tony G was behind but managed to come back and win the heat after calling Dwan’s all in with pocket eights. Tony G got lucky with his J-10 and won the Heat.
