Update: APPT Champion Announced
The 2007 1st Annual Asia Pacific Tour (APPT) announced Grant Levy as the winner of the tournament that ended Sunday.
The Tour which was hosted by PokerStars had been full of excitement as unexpected players had emerged. In a quote Saturday, APPT President Jeffrey Haas commented, “Over the last few days some of the mighty have fallen and the unlikely have succeeded.” As it stands tonight, that is definitely the case.
Levy from his hometown of Australia took home not only the title of Champion but winnings of $1 Million along with the APPT trophy. 28 year old Levy studied and honed his skills from playing poker online the past two and a half years. He is a P.E. Teacher at St. Dominic’s College in Kingswood as well as a father of two.
The seat positions for the final table had Lei He in Seat 1, Grant Levy in Seat 2, Larry Wright in Seat 3, Jeremiah Vinsant in Seat 4, Vijayan Nagarajan in Seat 5, John Matwey in Seat 6 and Jai Kemp in Seat 7, Sol Gergren in Seat 8 and Barry Kohlhoff in Seat 9.
The final action heated up as Levy and Jeremiah Vinsant played a fierce head to head game with sixty plus hands in their game. Levy beat out Vinsant in the final hand of the game with a full house to Vinsant’s one pair. Vinsant took second place and $621,540 in winnings.
