Van Marcus Wins APPT Manila Event
Manila was the place to be if you wanted to try your hand at a PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour event. Two hundred and eighty five players participated in the event but it was Van Marcus of Australia who was victorious.
Marcus was up against Tai Jun Noh in heads up play after all others had been eliminated. Marcus had a slight chip lead going in with $1.6 million to Noh’s $1 million. Noh would never be able to gain the lead and Marcus would take the win.
In the final hand Marcus went all in with 9-7 diamonds and Noh called with J-8. Marcus was trying for a straight draw when 8-6-3 appeared on the flop. Noh had the edge but Marcus got a ten on the turn and nothing could save Noh from losing.
Marcus had been having a good streak of success as he had cashed out several times in Australian events and also has cashed out in the WSOP and two other APPT events. The next stop on the APPT is the Championship in Sydney. Marcus has already stated that he will be there:
“Yeah," Marcus said. "100% you'll see me at the final. I would have been there even if I hadn't cashed in this event because I love playing APPT events. They're great events with great structures."
