Vivek Rajkumar Wins WPT Event also Breaks Record
The World Poker Tour Borgata Open took place this past weekend. Five hundred and sixteen players entered the $10,000 buy-in event but only one could be victorious. Vivek Rajkumar managed to outlast the playing field to take down the win. The amazing moment about this tournament was that Rajkumar was able to win the tournament in just forty eight hands at the final table. This is a record setting performance.
During Day one John Phan, Carlos Mortensen, David Singer, Michael Mizrachi, Mark Newhouse, John Juanda, Tuan Le and many more made an appearance in the tournament but were busted before day two. During day two players such as J.C. Tran and David Pham found themselves sent packing as well.
By day three Rajkumar had made his way to the top ten in chips along with Dan Heimiller. On day four, twenty seven players came back to the table to battle for the final table. That table could only hold six players.
When final table play began, Rajkumar was in the lead with more than $6 million in chips. Behind him was Dan Heimiller with $3.3 million in chips. Andrew Knee, Mark Seif, Jason Strochak and Sang Kim were behind them in chips.
Just yesterday, the players came together at the final table to compete for the win in front of television cameras. After just an amazing forty eight hands, Rajkumar won the top prize of over $1 million. Rajkumar had come close before winning his first big live event.
