WCOOP Begins Tomorrow
Players will be excited to hear that the 2009 World Championships of Online Poker, otherwise known as the WCOOP, will begin tomorrow afternoon. The first event will be a $215 no limit hold’em six max event with a $1.25 million guaranteed prize pool. This event will be the first of many for the tournament series.
The WCOOP was created by top online poker room, PokerStars, and they are promising that this year’s event will have over $40 million in guaranteed prizes that will awarded during the over forty five events taking place during the series.
The second event will be a $215 Razz tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of $200,000. The next tournament will then be a $215 pot limit Omaha six max tournament which will have a guarantee of $500,000. Many of these tournaments will most likely pass the guarantee as many players will be registering to compete in the different events.
“There are hundreds of exciting tournaments all year round but nothing compares to the WCOOP,” said professional poker player Daniel Negreanu.
“It’s the ‘must play’ event of the year for any poker player. Last year, over 20,000 players came together from across the world to compete in the largest ever online poker event for their chance to become a world champion.”
