WPT Bay 101 Shooting Stars Event
The World Poker Tour has made yet another millionaire. The Bay 101 Shooting Stars event lasted for five days and at the end Brandon Cantu was the player that took it home. He played aggressively throughout the tournament and on Saturday morning he took home the first place prize of $1 million dollars.
When Cantu started at the final table he had a nice cheap lead and wasn't going to relax any time soon. The first player that was eliminated at the final table was John Phan who also started with the least amount of chips.
Cantu knew to win he would have to get rid of the competition and he succeeded in getting rid of his closest competitor Mike Baker in the early part of the night and from then on it was smooth sailing as he now held nearly 75 percent of the chips that were in play. Cantu also knocked out Harman who was the only Shooting Star left at the tournament.
Brandon Cantu won $1 million for taking first place and another $30,000 that he collected in bounties for eliminating six Shooting Stars. Second place went to Steve Sung who got $585,000 and Jennifer Harman took home third place and $330,000.
