WPT, Ladies Night and Breast Cancer Research
The women's tournaments hold competition as fiercely as any tournament played out across the felt. The World Poker Tour Ladies Night V will be no exception. Every year one of the main draws for the competitive field is the fact the competition raises money for Breast Cancer Research.
This year the WORLD POKER TOUR has joined with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, leader of the international breast cancer research and awareness movement, to host the event. The WORLD POKER TOUR along with Hands-On Mobile will each be contributing $5,000 to Komen for the Cure. The Bicycle Casino will also contribute 15 percent of each $1,000 buy-in to the cause. For those who cannot participate but wish to donate to the event www.CharityBuzz.com will be hosting an online auction from Aug. 8 to Aug. 23.
The World Poker Tour Ladies Event has produced some of the most amazing poker personalities, such as Clonie Gowen and Isabelle Mercier. Last year was not exception as JJ Liu beat Kelli Griggs in heads up play to claim her own WPT Ladies Event title.
The tournament will play out over the weekend. The ultimate winner will earn first place cash and a place at the WORLD POKER TOUR Ladies final table on Aug. 31st. The final table will take place on the WORLD POKER TOUR stage before a host of television cameras. The competition will be furious, with Linda Johnson, Kristy Gazes, Melissa Hayden, Mimi Tran, and reigning Ladies Night Champion J.J. Liu invited to the final table.
The winner of the ladies final table will be given a place at the $25,000 WORLD POKER TOUR World Championship at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, starting in April 2008
