WPT World Poker Challenge Starts Tomorrow

The World Poker Tour Poker Challenge Main Event is going to start tomorrow.  This is a $7,500 championship event and they winner of the tournament will get the last WPT World Poker Challenge title.  The first tournament series was called the World Poker Challenge and was held in 2001. 

The first season was filmed back in 20003 but thus year The World Poker Challenge was one of the six public events that didn't make it into the lineup for WPT's season seven schedule.

Ron Rose won the first ever WPT World Poker Challenge getting $168,298 in prize money.  The tournament had only 87 entrants with a $5,000 buy in but the next year in 2004 saw 342 poker players trying to win a piece of the prize pool.

Last year J.C. Tran won the championship after outlasting 475 other players to win $708,973 dollars.  This is the first year that the buyin will be $7,500 dollars and the final table action is set to start on Friday.
