Event #14 of the WCOOP boasted a guaranteed $2 million dollar prize so it was no surprise that over 3,000 players signed up for the tournament. This pushed the prize pool up to $3,325,000. So of course recent WSOP bracelet winner, James Mackey wanted a piece of the action. Playing under the name mig.com, Mackey went on to win the tournament and take home of prize of $580,212.50.
Many of online pokers big names turned out for the event and finished in the top 50. Players such as Kenny Rap, Shawn Lumen, Ari Engel and of course Mackey. Engel finished in 31st place with a prize of $9,975 while Lumen finished in 19th place taking home $13,632. Kenny Rap and Mackey made it to the final table. Kenny Rap made it to the final 8 players when he drew pocket 10s. He thought he could win the hand but came up short against an opponents Ace/ Jack. He took a prize of almost $70,000. Mackey was in fourth place when he took a giant lead by eliminating Ephman.
When it came down to heads-up play,Mackey was in the chip lead 3-2 against his opponent Chulwoo. The final hand came when Chulwoo check raised all in with King two and the board read queen heart, eight club, six club, four spade. He was bluffing of course and had no idea that Mig.com had 7 heart and five heart. Mig.com called the bluff and took down Chulwoo with his straight. Chulwoo took home a second place prize of $292,933, while Mackey took home another tournament bracelet and $580,213.
