Worlds Heads Up Poker Championships won by Bambos Xanthos
This past weekend the Vic in London played host to the World Heads Up Poker Championships and the event finished up with Bambos Xanthos earning the first place finish. The final match up was between a new player James Mitchell and a legend at the Vic Bambos Xanthos.
Mitchell is an up and coming player in the poker world while Xanthos has become a legendary cash player at the Vic. Both played very well in the tournament to make it to the final match but Xanthos would have the advantage.
When the final match began Xanthos had a three to one chip lead and he never let up. Xanthos was in it to win it and he was just too much for his younger competitor. Xanthos took our Richard Gryko, Victor Ilyukhin, Sorel Mizzi and Ryan Fronda before besting Mitchell in the final.
Final Results:
1. BAMBOS XANTHOS (CYPRUS) £65,000
2. JAMES MITCHELL (ENGLAND) £30,000
3. VICTOR V. Ilyukhin (RUSSIA) £15,500
