Internet Gambling Traffic Increases Thanks To WSOP

According to research reports published by comScore Media Metrix, a web monitoring firm, their monthly analysis of US consumer Internet activity for June, 2007 has revealed an increase in traffic at online gambling sites. The boost in traffic is being attributed largely to the excitement surrounding this year's World Series of Poker (WSOP).

Many of the top online poker rooms offered satellite tournaments to the WSOP and WSOP Main Event, which in turn attracted many poker enthusiasts from the US. Internet activity in the online gambling category saw a rise of 13%, totalling 12.5 million visitors.

The online gambling sites who saw the most gains in traffic include PokerStars, with 1.6 million visitors, a 17% gain - FullTiltPoker, receiving 1.1 million visitors, an increase of 10% - and UltimateBet Online Poker, who experienced a 16% gain with 466,000 visitors.
