John Phan Wins 2 bracelets at 2008 WSOP
Professional poker player John Phan got his second bracelet of 2008 after he won the WSOP Event No. 40 which was a $2,500 buyin Triple Draw. The final table was full of talent, including, Robert Mizrachi, Ben Ponzio, David Slanskym Gioi Luong and Shun Uchida that he had to beat to get first place.
“Going into a World Series, I don’t expect to win a bracelet, but it would be nice to win one,” Phan said. “The first [bracelet], I didn’t really care that much. But [winning] the second one is so difficult.”
When play was down to three players Luong attempted to retrieve one of his discarded card but Phan called for the floor. The floor then ruled that the three original cards were to be discarded, a decision Phan was happy with.
“That guy takes so many shots,” Phan said. “It doesn’t matter if he’s playing against me, I will protect any player at the table. In poker, it’s all about karma.”
John Phan did outlast Luong and other players to win his second World Series of Poker gold bracelet and $151,896 dollars and his first bracelet was won in Event No. 29, a $3,000 buyin No Limit Texas Hold'em tournament and won $434, 789 dollars for first place.
