Lisandro Wins Fifth WSOP Bracelet

Jeffrey Lisandro won the £5,000 Pot Limit Omaha event at the World Series of Poker Europe on Saturday, taking down his fifth World Series of Poker bracelet, along with £159,514. Lisandro overcame a field of 119 players to win his forth WSOP title in the last two years.

Lisandro became a household name last year when he won three World Series of Poker bracelets in the same summer. Not surprisingly, the feat earned him the 2009 World Series of Poker Player of the Year award.

This win is his first of 2010, and came at a stacked final table that featured a number of notable players. John Racener and Karl Mahrenholz, who came into the final day as the two chip leaders, were still around for the final table, as was two-time bracelet winner Jeff Madsen. Ultimately, these three would go out in order from 6th (Mahrenholz) to 4th (Madsen).

Also impressive was the performance of Willie Tann, who finished 3rd to win £71,184. It was Tann’s second final table in the first two events of the World Series of Poker Europe, as he finished 6th in Event #1.

Ultimately, the tournament came down to a heads-up confrontation between Lisandro and Joseph Serock. After a few tense moments and some trading of the chip lead, Lisandro took command and held a 3-1 advantage over Serock when the final hand was played.

Serock moved all-in with Ks 7s 6h 5h, while Lisandro held As Qs 6s 2c. The J982J board improved Lisandro to two pair, good enough to take down the pot and take home his first WSOPE title. For second place, Serock took home £98,262.

The World Series of Poker Europe continues with Event #3, a £1,000 No Limit Hold’em Event that is already underway. The final event, the £10,000 Championship No Limit Hold’em tournament, begins on Thursday, September 23rd. The final table finishers for Event #2, along with their prize money won, were as follows:

1st: Jeffrey Lisandro (£159,514)

2nd: Joseph Serock (£98,262)

3rd: Willie Tann (£71,184)

4th: Jeff Madsen (£52,542)

5th: John Racener (£39,486)

6th: Karl Mahrenholz (£30,192)

7th: Felipe Ramos (£23,478)

8th: Jeff Kimber (£18,564)
