Not Just Poker Stars Want a Bracelet
Maguire is one of the leading Hollywood Poker Stars, having won the 2004 Phil Hellmuth Invitational No Limit Hold'em - walking away with more than $95 thousand. The high rolling regular game run by ‘spiderman' known as ‘Tobey's Game' is held at his Hollywood Hills home and generally requires a $2000 minimum buy-in. Some in the celebrity circle find the game a must play with the competition stiff and expensive.
Willie Garson, who played Stanford Blatch on Sex and the City, a regular in this game states: "it's gotten very expensive...The other night; I looked around the table and saw that everybody there was worth $50 million except me." His real threat is in Maguire's cash game, where he is reported to have won around $10 million playing his peers. This shows that Tobey is well practiced and prepared to make another appearance in the World Series this year.
His goal? It is the same as any other poker player, to win a bracelet. Today is Day 1 of the main event.
