Tristan Wade won the €3,000 No-Limit Hold’em Shootout at the World Series of Poker Europe, becoming the second American to win a bracelet at this year’s WSOP Europe. For his victory, Wade won €182,048 and his first WSOP bracelet.
The tournament attracted 258 players, and created perhaps the strongest final table yet at the WSOP Europe. In order to win the event, Wade had to beat a table that included Bertrand Grospellier, Steve O’Dwyer, and Max Silver, before finally taking on Michael Watson in heads up play.
Wade ultimately defeated Watson on a hand where all of the money went into the middle of the table before the flop. Wade’s J♥ J♠ was up against the A♥ 5♥ of Watson. When neither player was able to improve, Wade’s jacks gave him the tournament title.
Wade is best known as an online poker instructor, though he has had plenty of live tournament success as well. With his latest victory, Wade now has over $960,000 in live tournament winnings, the vast majority of which has been earned in 2011. His largest cash remains his 4th place finish at this year’s WSOP $10,000 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold’em Championship, for which Wade earned $292,866.
A total of 30 players made the money, with €743,040 split between them. Many prominent players were included among those who made the money, including Anton Makiievsksyi, Sean Getzwiller, Chad Brown, Vanessa Selbst and Freddy Deeb. The final table payouts were as follows:
1st Tristan Wade (€182,048)
2nd Michael Watson (€112,526)
3rd Richard Toth (€84,016)
4th Max Silver (€63,151)
5th Bertrand Grospellier (€47,763)
6th Steve O'Dwyer (€36,357)
7th Emil Patel (€27,842)
8th Taylor Paur (€21,459)
