WSOP Event No. 20 Winner Daniel Negreanu
Event No. 20 of the World Series of Poker was a $2,000 buyin Limit Texas Hold'em tournament started on June 10th and wrapped up on June 12th. The event had 480 hopeful poker players all trying to get the biggest piece of the $873,600 dollar prize pool. Only the top 45 players in the event would get to see some prize money though.
This year's tournament drew in a slightly larger crowd then last year's event that had 472 players. The final table of this event was played on the ESPN stage for later airing. Six of the final nine players were born outside of the United States showing how poker has grown to a world wide sport.
The winner was Daniel Negreanu, a very well known professional poker player and celebrity. He started playing poker when he was a teenager and has made his living playing Hold'em for several years before relocating to Las Vegas in 1998. He won $204,863 dollars for his first place finish and his forth WSOP gold bracelet.
This made his 29th WSOP cash so far since he won his first WSOP event in 1998. Ugur Marangoz from Las Vegas took second place in the event and is the highest Turkish born finisher in WSOP history. The Milwaukee's Best Light "Player of the Year" standing show that Erick Lindgren is on the top of the list with one gold bracelet win and three cashes so far in the WSOP.
