WSOP Event No. 30 Winner Rob Hollink
Event No. 30 of the World Series of Poker was a $10,000 dollar Limit Texas Hold'em World Championship tournament that drew in 218 players to create a $2,049,200 dollar prize pool. The tournament started on June 15th and finished on June 17th with a new World Champion. While everyone was aiming for a first place win and the title the top 27 players that didn't make it would collect prize money at the event.
This event was a gold bracelet event and a World Championship Event so the winner would not only take the WSOP gold bracelet but the title of Limit Hold'em World Champion. Starting this year all events that have a $10,000 dollar plus buyin are designated as official world championships. There are ten events in the WSOP that qualify under those guidelines.
There are eight gold tournaments with $10,000 dollar buy ins, the $50,000 buy-in HORSE event, and the Main Event. This tournament had the highest ever buy in for Limit Hold'em the previous record for a Limit Hold'em tournament was $5,000 dollars.
The winner of Event No. 30 was Rob Hollink, a 46 year old professional poker player from Groningen, Holland. He won $496,931 dollars and his first WSOP gold bracelet for taking first place. He also became the first WSOP gold bracelet winner from Holland after playing in the WSOP for many years since 2001. He estimates that he has played in 80 to 85 events during that time without much success.
“I have won 15 tournaments in Europe, but every year I come here (to the WSOP) it has been bad luck for me,” Hollink stated afterward. “But I guess this makes up for it now.”
Since there are professional players, semi professional and amateur players all at the World Series of Poker who is doing the best? After the conclusion of Event No. 30 the professional players are in the lead with 23 wins among then, the semi professional players have 2 wins and the amateur players have won 4 events.
