WSOP Event No. 34 Winner Layne Flack

Event No. 34 of the World Series of Poker was a $1,500 buyin Pot Limit Ohama tournament with rebuys allowed.  The tournament got under way on June 18th and finished up three days later on June 20th.  There were 320 players entered into the event and they had 1,350 rebuys total among them to make a prize pool of $2,407,125 dollars.

This event had one of the largest prize pool increases of the year, even over the same event last year.  At last year's event there were 298 players and 880 rebuys that created a total prize pool of $1,684,305 dollars.  There was a 7 percent increase in players at this year's event, rebuys went up 53 percent and the prize pool increased by 43 percent.
 
The Winner of Event No. 34 was Layne Flack from Las Vegas, Nevada.  This was his sixth WSOP gold bracelet win at the WSOP and his biggest win so far as he took $577,725 dollars for his first place finish.  With his latest win he is now tied with Jay Heimowitz, Men “the Master” Nguyen, and T.J. Cloutier for seventh on the all time WSOP list.

Flack made a total investment of $33,000 dollars in this tournament with 21 rebuys.  “When we made the money, everybody was cheering,” Flack stated.  “Everybody was a winner but me.  I still had to get to at least 12th place just to get my money back.”   “It’s not like I outplayed everybody,” Flack admitted after his victory.  “I mean, I did catch some cards.”
