WSOP Event No. 46 Winner Joe Commisso

Event No. 46 of the World Series of Poker was a $5,000 buyin Six Handed No Limit Texas Hold'em championship that started on June 26th and finished on June 28th with a winner.  There were a total of 805 players entered in the event that created a prize pool of $3,783,500 dollars.

This event created the largest prize pool in WSOP history for this event and with $911,830 dollars being paid to the 1st place winner it is also the highest of any completed event so far at this year's World Series of Poker.  Attendance was also up by 11 percent over last year when there were 728 entries.

The first Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em tournament was played at the WSOP in 2005 and Doyle Brunson won his tenth WSOP gold bracelet in the inaugural event.  This event emphasises short handed poker skills since the table only starts with six players.

This year's winner is Joe Commiso, a 28 year old professional poker player from Las Vegas, Nevada.  He won $911,830 dollars for his first place finish and his first WSOP gold bracelet.  This was also his first time to cash at the World Series of Poker.

So far Commiso has only played in five live tournaments and he has only cashed at one major tournament, the WSOP Circuit event that was held in Atlantic City in 2005 where he won $3,048 dollars.  He says that he is mostly a cash game player and does not like playing in poker tournaments and plans on entering in very few tournaments in the future.
