Event No. 5 of the World Series of Poker was a $1,000 dollar buyin No Limit Texas Hold'em tournament with rebuys allowed.  The event started on June 3rd with 766 players and finished up on June 5th with the first place winner, Michael Banducci who won $636,736 dollars.  The prize pool for the event got a boost with the 2,258 re-buys creating a total prize pool of $2,894,094 dollars.

With a rebuy poker tournament players are allowed to buy back into the tournament several times as long as they have equal or less chips then what they started with.  At the event players started with 2,000 in chips so any player that had a chip count of 2,000 or less could rebuy into the tournament.

The rebuy period ends after the first two levels are played or at this tournament it was after the first two hours.  The player that had the most rebuys at the tournament was Suk Sung who bought back in 23 times, investing a total of $23,000 dollars for this event.

Michael Banducci won the tournament with only one rebuy plus a double add on, his total investment into the tournament was $4,000 dollars and he got     $636,736 return on that investment.  Banducci said in a post tournament interview, "I can’t imagine ever stopping doing what I am doing. I really enjoy it. Only now, I view it more as a business. I put in a set number of hours per week. At one time I was really passionate about poker. But I think I have become more disciplined about what I do."

There were 184 hands played at the final table until the tournament had it's winner the player in second place is Jeff Williams who cashed for $406,330 dollars.  This was the fourth event that will be televised by ESPN and it is also the last event that will be taped for a later broadcast on ESPN until the $50,000 dollar HORSE Championship on June 25th.
