WSOP Releases Schedule; Decides to Keep Four Month Break

The World Series of Poker has released the 2009 schedule and there have been some changes while some things will stay the same. The WSOP decided to keep the four month break that occurred last year. The Final Table will begin in November as it did for the first time last year. The event received very high television ratings so it was decided to keep it on a break again this year.

Rebuy events were removed from the WSOP schedule as organizers began thinking that poker pros could buy their way to a bracelet. There have been two events added to schedule making a total of fifty seven events for the year. The WSOP added a $40,000 No-Limit Hold’em tournament to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the World Series of Poker and a $1,000 buy-in event called the stimulus special has been added.

According to the schedule the 2009 World Series of Poker events will begin on May 27th and the Main Event will begin on July 3rd and be completed on November 10th. This of course will be when the four month delay will take place.

The $40,000 event could be the highlight of the WSOP this year as it is commemorating the 40th anniversary of the WSOP. All of the top poker pros should be in attendance vying for the win as well as supporting the World Series of Poker.
