WSOP is headed for Europe
So far the WSOP has plans for a three day H.O.R.S.E. tournament, a six day No-Limit Texas Hold'em tournament and a two day Pot-Limit Omaha tournament. Jeffrey Pollak was quoted saying "It's our first step forward to meaningful international expansion. I Think long term, long term being the next twelve to thirty six months, we are looking to launch other events around the world." Also during the chat Pollak hinted that there could be an event planned in the Harrah's owned casinos in Egypt and South Africa some time in the not so distant future.
This three bracelet event that is being held in London will be the first main event ever held outside of Las Vegas since its creation in 1970. The WSOP first main event took place back in 1978 and started with only 42 players and has grown to over 8,773 players as of last year, with multi million dollar prize money awarded for each of the last four years.
Doyle Brunson, a well known poker players, who's competed in every World Series of Poker is excited about the expansion to Europe and is planning to serve as a poker ambassador in London. He was quoted saying " I was at the first one here in Vegas and I want to the at the first one there".
