World Series of Poker Event No. 10 Winner Farzad Rouhani
Event No. 10 of the World Series of Poker was a$2,500 dollar buyin Half Omaha High Low Split / Half Seven Card Stud High Low event. The event started on June 4th and finished up on June 6th that had a total prize pool of $892,400 dollars. There were 388 poker players hoping to cash out in the event but only 40 players would pocket money from Event No. 10 of the WSOP.
The tournament made it's debut at last year's WSOP and 327 players entered into the event and this year the event enjoyed even more success with a turnout 16 percent higher than last year. This event lasted for three days with the final table playing out adjacent to the ESPN stage. Sitting at the final table were a few poker favorites that drew in a large crowd of spectators so that there was only standing room around the final table.
When play at the final table began Farzad Rouhani was the chip leader and the eventual winner of the event. He is a 44 year old professional poker player that was born in Iran and later came to the US in 1985 to go to college. At the time he was planning to attend medical school but these plans changed later on.
Rouhani said in a post-tournament interview, “I came to the U.S. 23 years ago to become a doctor. But instead, I became a pro poker player. Go figure.” He won $232,911 dollars for his first place finish and his first WSOP gold bracelet. Finishing the tournament in second place was Tom Chambers who cashed out for $86,117 dollars.
