World Series of Poker Event No. 9 Winner Rep Porter

Event No. 9 of the World Series of Poker was a $1,500 dollar buyin Six Handed No Limit Hold'em tournament.  The event started on June 5th and ran until June 7th with 1,236 players entering into the event to try for their share of the $1,687,140 dollar prize pool.  The top 126 players in the tournament would see some cash in this event.

Six Handed Hold'em puts the emphasis on players short handed poker skill.  Instead of sitting at a table with nine players each table is started out with six players.  The tournament played out for three days and on day three the final table was played out on the ESPN stage. 

When play got under way at the final table John Comkright was the chip leader with about 27 percent of the total chips in play.  Also sitting with a good chip lead at the final table was Michael Brummelhuis who was right behind him in second position and Rep Porter was holding the third most amount of chips. 

The winner of Event No. 9 was Rep Porter and he took home $372,843 dollars for his first place finish and his first WSOP gold bracelet.  He now has 10 career WSOP cashes under his belt, all happening within the past four years and the win will also put him across the $1 million dollar mark in winnings for all major poker tournaments.

Porter said in a post tournament interview, "There were a lot of chips in play. I did not expect it to be a quick day. When push came to shove, I could have had the K-9 and he could have had the K-Q just as easily. – speaking of the final hand of the tournament when with the blinds high the two finalists got into a pre-flop raising war with Porter holding the dominant hand.  I’m on cloud nine right now. I’ve been trying to win a gold bracelet for three years."

Nathan Templeton finished the event in second place and now has two WSOP cashes this one was $231,981 dollars.  The final results of the tournament and those that cashed at the event are listed below.
